The long days at the end of summer are always the perfect time for casual dinner parties. Family style is my favorite way to cook for friends at home and this is when it seems that everything is in full abundance at the farmers markets. Big platters of seasonal food bursting with bright colors and flavors is irresistible. These four dishes epitomize that idea. While tomatoes will go until nearly Thanksgiving in California, September is really their time to shine. This tomato salad is a classic for a reason. For our second course California mussels will be the star and the main course will feature a whole Marin Sun Farms pork loin. For dessert we’ll celebrate the end of summer a feed our berry addiction one last time before we start to shift to apples, pears and other fruits to come.
