Jordan's Kitchen Cooking Class: BRAISING, BAKING, ROASTING AND MORE

This class features a great winter menu and we’ll have the ovens cranking. For the first course we’ll learn how to make Gougeres, the classic French cheese puffs made from Pate a Choux pastry dough. You’ll also get comfortable using pastry bags to pipe out perfect little mounds. Then we’ll roast three varieties of beets with oranges, thyme and other aromatics to build incredible depths of flavor in this beet salad. A nicely braised short rib is divine and the perfect dish for entertaining since you can prepare them in advance. Braising is a true art in the kitchen, one that home cooks need to embrace and master. We’ll also learn how to make an incredible sauce by reducing the braising liquid. And for dessert we’ll bake a light and moist date cake with hints of cardamom, ginger and cinnamon.
